Salty Tongue, Urban Deli
Located beside the Heather, this is the most recent of our
projects. By living in Gastown the Heather family, Roisin,
Erin, Ogie & Sean knew that there wasn’t anywhere
in the hood to buy artisan bread, cheese, Italian Water, Spanish
Olives, etc. We believe that we identified the need and if
our neighbor’s response is a gauge we have filled that
need. Architects and city planners are delighted with the
Salty Tongue as it speaks volumes for the progress of Gastown……the
hood can now support a deli!
Why Salty Tongue?
I fell in love with the expression a couple of years ago
while channel surfing I stumbled upon an interview with famed
Irishman Bono. In it he described himself as an “Irishman
with a salty tongue” (sailor talk for swears a lot)
and I thought that it would fit perfectly on a deli owned
by an Irish person. Love it or hate it nobody ever forgets
it and as a graphics pal of mine remarked “that’s
golden”
